3 Network
Mobile Phones Selections
Which model is good for me?
There is some confusion about 3 netwok mobile phones. Each country has its own
telecomunication regulatory framework, and as such they commission cellolar phone network to work on a different
part of the available bandwidth. In general there are 3 different bandwidths used for mobile phones.
Why is it important to me?:
Say you are a business man from the UK who travel regularly. You probably want your cell phone to operate as
if you were in your home base, when you are on travel. You especially dont want to care aout the details of the
network in a country you travel to. to achieve this 3 network mobile phones are already configured for the main
networks available.
It is important to buy unlocked 3 network mobile
When you buy a phone from a phone company, it generally comes locked. What use do
yuo have with a locked phone on travel? It might not work with the local network, or at least will cost a lot in
terms of roaming fees. If your phone is unlocked, you are not bound by the roaming cost structure of your home
network and can save a lot on your phone bill.
When you get to a new country, you will probably want to buy a local sim card. The sim card
identify you to your phone compaby and gives you a phone number, it should not cost more than $20. Keep this sim
card for future visits to this country.
One trick people use is combine a sim with prepaid cell phone account. Doing so gives you
complete anonymity and help you use the phone in ways you wouldnt otherwise.
3 network phones are somewhat difficult to unlock, its not easy to find a program online
to do it effectively. Best bet would be to got to some of the phone shops in town that specialize in
this kind of task (should not cost much).
Some sample phones are the Nokia N97, Apple Iphone, Sony Ericsson Vivaz.
